Land prices in New York are ridiculous high. This is one of the reasons for the skyline of the metropolis. Manhattan in New York is so filled that it is difficult to walk somewhere in a green area. Pier 55 is an initiative to prevent this. It is a park at three hundred poles that in the Hudson River is built. Pier 55 is about one hundred metres in the square, about the size of one and a half football pitch. The bridges to Pier 55 are in line with 14th and 15th street. The project receives an open air theatre with a capacity of seven hundred people, a large garden with several hiking trails. It is intended that all technical components (power cables for lighting, for example) below the island through, so that the park gives the impression of a nature reserve. Probably begins construction in 2016 and it will take four years. The cost amounts to slightly less than EUR 140 million.
